Club President, Kristie Evans, sorting a massive amount of bulk Lego for the club!
Hundreds of pounds of lego parts being sorted for SJLUG to use on future builds & projects!
Why Join our LUG?
1. It's a LOT of Fun! By joining a Lego user group- you don't ONLY get to build and socialize with other AFOL (Adult Fans of Lego). The group works individually & together to build Lego models to display at our local Lego Store, we travel and display at events such as Lego Conventions, Lego movie premiers, and eveb activities at Legoland Discovery Center and park locations + so much more. 2. Our Members get excellent benefits!
Access to our Lego studio where you can photograph your builds or film for social media such as YouTube.
Space where you can build & store your works in progress, with access to a massive parts library. (So you don't always need to wait for your Bricklink order to arrive just so you can keep building!)
We hold special events like Lego Sorting Lessons, where you can learn new tips and techniques for managing your ever-growing collection!
We attend several large Lego conventions and shows througout the year and we support our group's parricipation both as an organization and as individuals, in those conventions.
We hold group field-trips where we check out Lego related events, stores and activities (such as the Art of the Brick traveling exhibit, and visits to Lego Retailers around Pa/NJ/NY and more!)
We host tons of open build days- where you can come out and work on alone on your individual projects, or as part of the group on projects that are currently getting prepared for upcoming shows!
We hold three "Open House" meetings each year - in June, November and January and a yrarly holiday party in December. During these events, we hold mini build competitions, have Lego giveaways and enjoy snacks & drinks!
There are other GREAT reasons to Join!
As a LUG member, you'll have access to the knowledge & experience of other local Lego builders who can help you improve your design skills & teach you new Lego building ideas & techniques. (We work TOGETHER and individually on awesome Lego builds, and having other talented builders (and their collections!) at your disposal is VERY helpful in developing your ideas and your creative builds.)
As a club, we do great things for our community! Our club donates both our TIME and building blocks and more to local area schools, libraries & other charities. We also host & participate in charitable events throughout the year which directly benefits our community in a tangible way (One example of this - is Project Christmas, which is in it's 7th year. You can learn more at www.ProjectChristmasNJ.com.) We're also working on building Little Libraries - built entirely out of LEGO and DUPLO Bricks! If you'd like to take part in this project - be sure to let us know!
Our LUG is happy to educate others using Lego as an incredible teaching tool! - if you're interested in hosting our club at your private event - Weather you're a Scout Troop Leader, an Educator, Corporate Management, or any other leadership position - OR if you've got party, club meeting, etc coming up and you want a UNIQUE and ENGAGING event - Have us come host a Lego Event! We'll come to your meeting/party/event or classroom - We'll be happy to develop a unique events for YOUR GROUP specifically - weather its kids, adults or a mix of both. We'll bring everything needed to host an event that fits YOUR group and we promise - it will be engaging, entertaining and FUN - while also helping address breaking the ice, getting to know the individuals at your event, team building, teamwork, problem solving, engineering, robotics, open-ended creativity and so much more! Let us develop a unique program for YOUR group - We'll develop a plan that works for YOUR group, and runs anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours in length: we'll come to you, we'll host the event, we'll provide ALL needed supplies, we'll remove and clean up everything after the event - and, if you'd like, we can arrange to have your groups keep a personalized Lego souvenir from your event. Give your group time to get HANDS ON with LEGO - reach out to us today!
We hold Lego bulk buy events, Lego bricks & pieces auctions & trade events - helping our members to grow their collections, all at a reasonable cost! Our members have the opportunity to gather together to purchase & divide up bins of second hand Lego. We meet to exchange sets and/or pieces from our personal collections, as well as Part Auctions where the group buys a bunch of Lego sets, to open & divide up the parts among the participants. All great ways to expand your personal collection while saving BIG $$$.
