What *IS* a "LUG" ? "LUG" stands for "Lego User Group". A Lego User Group is a club of adult Lego enthusiasts who get together and build things - cool things- all made using the Lego system.
We hold regular meetings, events and parties, we display our complex and original builds at shows & conventions, we provide valuable community service within our community, and we do it all while sharing our love of Lego! Being a member of the LUG means getting to have fun and be creative - two things adults do NOT get to do enough of these days. Up to twenty times a month, we get together in small or large groups to do things related to the Lego hobby and you can participate as much or as little as you want! |
Our members LOVE to build new, interesting and creative things- both as a group and as individuals, growing our skills and sharing our interests at Lego conventions and other public events across our area. It's our goal to be a fun, safe place for EVERYONE to enjoy Lego. We welcome all adults, and junior members age 12-14 (with a parent) or 15-17 (as junior members) - you're all welcome to come build with us! We strive to be completely inclusive- our group has a HUGE range of builders from all walks of life, with very varied backgrounds, interests and beliefs.
We strive to be INCLUSIVE- when we say EVERYONE - we mean it. Many of our members use their passion for Lego as a way to escape the stress and responsibilities of their day-to-day lives, others focus on their Lego hobby to help take their mind off of health problems (of all kinds!). For many of us - Lego is a form of therapy. Some of us believe passionately in "Lego Therapy" - we all agree that building, collecting and sorting - Lego helps all of us to reduce stress and allows us to express ourselves in a creative way that many adults don't have nearly enough opportunities to experience! Our atmosphere is important to us - we're a friendly group - and while many of us have known each other for years, we also have a lot of new members who have joined us within the last few months. There are no cliques, no drama - just friendship and Lego! You may be feeling anxious about coming out and joining a new "thing" with a whole new group of people that "already know each other"- but we promise -we're a VERY welcoming group. 98% of the people who have come out to a meeting or build day, have come to join the club. |
That's the best part: You don't need to fit in! We don't want our club to be a hive-mind of people who all think and act the same - we VALUE the diversity and differences within our membership. We don't care what you look like, what you believe, or even what you're capable of building. It doesn't matter what kind of collection you have - all we care about is that you're kind - and that you love Lego - those are the only two member requirements!
We don't care if the only thing you've ever built are Lego sets, we don't mind if you haven't picked up a brick since childhood, and no one cares weather you have a massive inventory or just a handful of dusty sets on the shelf from your childhood - we welcome EVERYONE who's interested in building with Lego! |
