Littles Builders - BLUE CLASS Age 5-7 + Play Partner
Little Builders (Ages 5-7) - Class Structure Classes consist of 10-16 students with a parent/guardian, and one class instructor.
Our Little Builders classes actively involve parents to build alongside their little ones.
Parents are expected to be present and to actively participate during the class, helping their little builders to work on various projects during our hour long classes. We will OFTEN be working on the floor - so please keep this in mind, if you have physical limitations or health conditions that may make this difficult.

What is the Little Builders BLUE Class? Little Builders BLUE is a six week long parent & child class for young pre-school kids ages 5-7 yrs old. Each class is one hour long and will include four segments. Our FIRST and LAST of each class session will be slightly different, to make time for our initial introduction to the class/classroom and our final class's "graduation ceremony".); Part 1: (5 min) Reminder of the Rules, and our Welcome Song. Part 2; (20-30 min) Group Themed Activity, during which students & their Play Partner both actively participate. Part 3; (15-30 min) Free-Play, during which time, parents can choose to supervise OR actively join their child in free-play in our large classroom space. Part 4: (5 min) Class wrap-up, Our Goodbye Song, and Heading Home!
A parent, sibling (age 15+) or guardian must be present to act as each student's play partner (and supervisor!) and the Play Partner WILL actively participate with their young builder during each class. We'll start with a quick reminder of the rules (such as keeping our hands to ourselves and our own builds, no throwing bricks, etc!), and then we'll play a fun Lego song to get everyone moving! Next, as a class, Play Partners and their kids will play a fun building game that will be themed and different each week. A few examples include building funny cars and racing them down ramps, building environments for our favorite Duplo animals, playing games that incorporate building with Duplo while learning & remembering our colors, numbers, letters etc, playing a game of Duplo memory, having a funny building relay, and building SUPER tall towers that we'll get to topple over with a ball!
For the second half of each class, parents can relax and chat while supervising their kids during "free-play". "Free Play" allows students plenty of time to use our multiple build-tables, a Duplo train set-up, and gives everyone a chance to really make full use of our MASSIVE collection of Duplo, Quatro & Primo FULLY kid-safe building blocks, to create whatever fun & interesting creations they want! At the end of class, we'll all jam out to another fun Lego song, and we'll say goodbye to our class friends until next time.
Who is the Little Builders BLUE Class appropriate for? Little Builders BLUE is appropriate for all builders - however it IS an active class with a lot of floor-play and physical activities. Adult Play Partners should dress comfortably (including comfortable shoes) and should expect to be on the floor with the kids during this class (We do have chairs available, but most activity will take place on the floor). Play partners must be able to physically wrangle their child (IE, keep up with them for the length of the class time, be able to pick the child up and move them if necessary, etc). Parents should be prepared to enforce the rules of the classroom, and, if multiple infractions occur (such as their child touching another student, or knocking over another student's build), parents should be prepared to intervene and/or temporarily remove their child from the situation, until the child has been reminded of the rule and has calmed down and is able to SAFELY return to the activity. All children should be accompanied 1-on-1 for this class. (Parents of twins/siblings interested in attending with 2 children should speak to our instructor ahead of registration to discuss. Only one or two sibling/twin sets will be allowed per class to make sure every child is adequately supervised/assisted, and will depend on our class instructor / class assistant situation for that specific class.) Students should understand and be able to follow simple instructions given in English (or, if a parent is able to interpret, we welcome ESL & ASL students - however, we do not currently have any foreign language or sign language FLUENT instructors at this time). It will be helpful for students to have a basic understanding of the ABC's, colors, numbers 1-20, etc as some games will involve these concepts - but it won't be necessary for students to have already mastered these skills prior to class. Students do not have to be able to read/write for this class.
Regarding Students with physical limitations or intellectual disabilities - please contact us to discuss your child's specific situation BEFORE registering for class. We will be able to more specifically answer your questions, and to discuss if your child will be able to benefit from, and actively enjoy all (or at least most) of the activities we have planned for that specific upcoming class, and we can discuss any necessary accommodations.
Can a student take Little Builders BLUE more than once?
ABSOLUTELY!Our 6-week class is designed to be able to be repeated as our course is never the same twice! Each 6 week Little Builders Blue class will rotate through our many fun class activities, and each class schedule and the specific activities will be different than the one before. While some activities will repeat across various 6-week sessions, no two sessions will be the same. (For example, Week 2 of our class starting in June may be "Duplo Bowling" day. Our class starting in August may ALSO do "Duplo Bowling" day, but during that session, it might be our sixth week of class. No two classes during any given year will have six identical activities, so if you sign up for multiple classes, you will always experience a different course schedule, and multiple activities that we didn't do during the previous session. We welcome and encourage students to attend multiple classes back-to-back OR spread throughout the year!
At the end of the course, Little Builders get a certificate recognizing the completion of class and we'll have a "Little Builder" graduation that incorporates and recognizes students for however many Little Builders classes THEY have completed, as of the end of each session.
